Common Error Explanations

Server was unable to process request. Authentication failed.

This error is returned whenever we have been unable to verify the Developer Key and Password combination supplied.  Please check to make sure that the information provided is correct.  If necessary, you may contact ChannelAdvisor Support by creating a case on the ChannelAdvsior Community to have your password reset and emailed to you.

Server was unable to process request. Unable to parse the request. Please validate your SOAP XML.

This error is returned whenever we have encountered an exception parsing the SOAP XML that was submitted to the API.  The most common cause of this is characters supplied in the XML that have not been properly encoded.  An example of this is an "&".  This character must be encoded as "&" unless it is contained within an XML CDATA section.  There are plenty of resources on the internet that can explain this in much more detail and can offer simple applications to allow you to verify your XML.

Server was unable to process request. Authorization failed.

This error is returned whenever we have encountered an exception trying to check the authorization of the specified Developer Key for use against the specified AccountID and API Method.  If you believe that your Key should have access, then contact the owner of the Account and have them contact our Support Team for further assistance.

Resource requested is not authorized.

This error is returned whenever we have determined that the specified Developer Key is denied use of the specified AccountID and API Method.  If you believe that your Key should have access, then contact the owner of the Account and have them contact our Support Team for further assistance.
